Shop website

A website for a shop, florist or maker: what you sell, prices, opening hours and an order or inquiry form people can send.

A shop website brings people through your door and lets regulars order ahead. It shows the kind of things you sell, what they cost, when you are open and what makes your shop worth the trip. For a florist, a bookshop, a bakery counter or a maker who sells at markets, that is often all a website needs to do.

What to put on a shop website

  • What you sell. Your main ranges with photos, and a few favorites or new arrivals with prices.
  • Why people come to you. Handmade, local, a rare range, expert advice. One short paragraph and a photo of the shop or the workbench.
  • Opening hours and the address. With a map link, parking or the nearest stop, and any market days.
  • How to order. An order form for pickup or local delivery, with delivery areas and fees if you deliver.
  • Something to come back for. Workshops, a weekly special, a subscription or seasonal collections.
  • Reviews. Short quotes from real customers.

How orders work

Kodebloc websites don't take card payments. To keep visitors safe, a page with card number fields can't be published. Instead, use an order form: the customer says what they want, when and how they will collect it, and you confirm by email or phone and take payment in the shop or by your usual method. Each order from a published website lands in your Messages inbox in Kodebloc and is emailed to your account address. If you also sell on a marketplace, link to your shop there.

Tips for your request

  1. List real products and prices. Six to twelve is plenty for the home page. Anything you leave out comes back as sample products you must replace.
  2. Say what the order form should ask. For example: name, phone, the items, pickup or delivery, and the date.
  3. Describe the feel of the shop. "Romantic and soft" for a florist, "quiet and crafted" for a stationer, "bright and busy" for a gift shop.
  4. Add pages as you grow. Home, Shop and Visit is a good start. A florist might add a Weddings page.

Start from a ready-made shop website

Open either of these as your own copy: a stationery and paper shop with workshops and an order for pickup form, or a florist with this week's flowers, a bouquet price list, wedding packages and an order form. Replace the products, prices and photos with yours, as they are all made up. See all templates.

Keep it fresh

Change the favorites, prices or opening hours whenever you like, by hand or by chat, then update the live website. The address stays the same, so the link on your shop window, receipts and social pages keeps working.
