Build a website from your Google Business Profile
Start from your business listing on Google: paste its link, add your details, and get a website with a button to your Google reviews.
Who this is for
Many small businesses have a listing on Google Maps but no website of their own. People find the bakery, the plumber or the dental clinic on Maps, but there is nowhere to read more, see the full list of services or send a message. This page shows you how to turn the details you already have into a simple website in a few minutes.
The tool lives at Google Business Profile to website. It is a short form. You paste your Maps link, check your details, and Kodebloc builds a one-page business website for you. Like the rest of Kodebloc, it is free while in beta.
What Kodebloc takes from your Google link
It helps to know exactly what happens with your link, so there are no surprises.
- Only the business name is read from the link. A full Google Maps link has the name in it, and so does a Google search link. Kodebloc reads the name from the link itself.
- Kodebloc doesn't copy anything else from Google. It doesn't read your address, phone number, hours, photos or reviews from your listing. You type those into the form.
- Short share links work too. If you copied a short link, like one that starts with
maps.app.goo.glorg.page, Kodebloc follows it to the full Google link to find the name. - Your link is kept for buttons. Your website gets buttons that open your Google listing, so visitors can get directions and read your reviews on Google.
The link is optional. If you don't have one, or it can't be read, you can still fill in the form and build your website.
Step by step
1. Copy your Google Maps link
- Open Google Maps on your phone or computer.
- Search for your business and open its listing.
- Choose Share, then Copy link.
2. Fill in the form
- Open Google Business Profile to website.
- Paste your link into Your Google Maps link. Kodebloc shows "Reading your link..." for a moment. When it works, you see "Found" followed by your business name, and the Business name box fills in if it was empty.
- Check Business name and fill in Type of business, like bakery, dental clinic or plumber. These two are required.
- Add the rest if you have it: Address, Phone, Opening hours (one line per day or range) and Services or products (one per line).
- In About your business, write what makes you special. You can copy the description from your Google listing if you like.
- Click Build my website.
3. Sign in and wait for the build
If you aren't signed in, Kodebloc asks you to sign up or sign in first. Then the builder opens and starts building your website right away. You don't need to type anything else.
What your website will have
The AI builds a one-page website with these sections:
- A top section with your name and a clear button to get in touch
- What you offer, made from your services or products
- About us, made from your description
- Opening hours and location
- Contact, with a form people can use to send you a question
A few extra touches come from your details:
- A Get directions button opens Google Maps. If you pasted a search link instead of a Maps link, the button searches Maps for your name and address.
- A Read our Google reviews button opens your Google listing, where your real reviews are.
- Your phone number becomes a link, so people on a phone can tap it to call you.
If your link doesn't work
You may see one of these messages under the link box:
- "That isn't a Google Maps link." The link is from somewhere else, like Facebook or your own notes. Go back to Google Maps, choose Share, then Copy link.
- "We couldn't read that link. Please fill in the details below." Kodebloc couldn't find a name in it. Type your business name yourself and carry on.
- "Too many links for now. Please fill in the details below." Too many links were checked in a short time. Type your details yourself, or try the link again later.
None of these stop you. The link only fills in the name and powers the Google buttons. Everything else comes from what you type.
Make it yours
Once the first version is ready, it works like any other Kodebloc website. Ask for changes in the chat, like "Use our brand color, dark green" or "Add a section about our delivery area". Read Change your website by chat for tips. You can also fix words and swap photos yourself in Add & edit.
Open Site settings to set how your website looks in Google search and on shared link cards. The Business tab there can also tell Google your address, phone and opening hours.
Publish and add the link to Google
When you are happy, publish your website. It gets its own address, like rosas-bakery.kodebloc.app. See Publish and share and Your website's address.
After you publish, the publish window has a section called Add it to your Google Business Profile. Open it to see these steps:
- Open business.google.com, or search your business name on Google while signed in.
- Choose Edit profile, then Contact.
- Paste your website's link into Website and choose Save.
The section also has an Open Google Business Profile link. Now people who find you on Google Maps can click through to your new website.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the form almost empty. The AI only uses what you give it. Add your hours, services and a short description for a fuller website.
- Pasting a link to a photo or review. Copy the link to the business listing itself, using Share and Copy link.
- Forgetting to update the live website. After changes, use Update to put them online. See Update or take down a live website.
