How it goes

Four steps, no mystery. Most projects take three to eight weeks from hello to files.

01
Say hello

A thirty minute call about what you need, who it is for and when. You get a fixed quote within two days.
02
Rough sketches

Three loose pencil directions, each a different idea. You pick one, or we steal the best bits of two.
03
Colour and craft

The chosen sketch becomes finished art. Two rounds of changes are included, and I show work every week.
04
Out in the world

Print ready and web files, a quick check with your printer, and a very happy email when it ships.

The studio

Hi, I am Marlo.

I grew up between Manila and Porto, trained as a graphic designer, and drifted happily into drawing. Since 2017 I have run Studio Marlo from a first floor room in Intendente with a big window, a slow printer and a cat called Pantone.

I work with a small circle of printers, sign painters and a lettering friend when the job needs more hands. You always talk to me.

“Marlo turned a brief that said ‘poetry, but not boring’ into the best selling covers we have ever printed. Bookshops asked for the posters before the books.”
