A restrained three-page site for a four-person architecture studio in Leith, Edinburgh. It reads like a set of drawings: concrete greys, timber accents, a title block in the hero and a typographic project index that lets the buildings carry the weight.
The home page opens on a tall photo of a timber-clad house beside the headline Buildings that sit quietly in hard weather, with a drawing title block underneath that lists the founding year 2011, 63 completed buildings, four people and Sheet 01 of 03, finished with a north arrow and a scale bar. On the boards lately shows three recent jobs in an uneven grid: Ravelston Mews, Morningside Garden Room and the Seafield Yards competition, each with year, type and floor area. A charcoal band then sums up the practice with 41 houses, 22 civic and work buildings, five awards and the furthest site, on Skye.
Projects starts with Fifteen years, drawn to scale and three long spreads for Larchfield House in Peebles, Granton Reading Room and Allt Beag Steading near Glencoe, each with a fact strip and, for the steading, a quote from the owners. Below sits the signature project index, a fourteen-row table of number, year, project, location, type and area in square metres, with featured rows marked in timber. The Studio page covers four design principles beside a timber study model, the team of four with short bios, five awards and how a commission runs in five stages, from a free site visit to feasibility from £1,800 and a fee of 10 to 14% of build cost. The Start a project form asks for name, email, phone, site, kind of project, budget, start date and a note about what you have in mind.
To make it yours, put in your own practice name, studio address and team, then rewrite the index rows and the three spreads with your own buildings and photographs. The drawing-sheet layout suits landscape architects, interior designers, timber frame builders, conservation surveyors and small engineering firms just as well.
