About

I have spent twelve years photographing strangers in Brooklyn. Most of them are friends now.

I grew up in Flushing, studied photojournalism at night, and learned the rest assisting wedding photographers and news desks. My work sits somewhere between the two: honest, unhurried, and kind to the people in it.

I shoot mostly in black and white, on film when there is time and digital when there is not. I do not direct much. I would rather wait for the real moment than invent a pretty one.

We forgot she was there, which is the whole point. Then the pictures arrived and we sat at the kitchen table and cried over our own wedding like it had happened to someone else.
