Music & bands
An evening-toned site for a Hobart community choir that welcomes everyone. Night blue, candlelight gold and Prata headings make it feel like a printed concert programme, while the words keep saying the same thing: no auditions, and no music reading needed.
The hero is a full-bleed photo of harbour lights on black water inside a thin gold frame, with the choir's name large in Prata and a small card for the next concert, Water Music on Saturday 20 March 2027. A welcome section says if you sing in the car, you can sing with us, with three numbers: 92 singers, 4 concerts a year and 0 auditions. The signature section is the 2027 season laid out like a programme booklet: four concerts from autumn to summer, each with a big gold date, a short description, three pieces with composers and the venue, time and doors. Night blue, warm gold and brick red keep every section feeling like an evening out.
Voice parts come next as four cards for soprano, alto, tenor and bass, each with a small drawn stave showing its range, the number of singers and a monthly Saturday sectional, under chips for no auditions and the Tuesday 7pm rehearsal. A dark section introduces musical director Rosalind Kerr with a photo and a quote. How to join runs in three steps, with the first two rehearsals free and terms at $95 or $50 concession. Three member quotes sit over candlelight, and the page ends with the hall address and a Come to a rehearsal form asking for name, email, phone, voice part, which Tuesday and a note.
To make it yours, rename the choir and the concerts, rewrite the season and rehearsal times, and swap in photos of your own singers and town. The same design suits a chamber choir, a church music group, a barbershop chorus, a youth orchestra or a community theatre. Keep the plain promise about auditions near the top, because it is what nervous first timers look for.
