About the Northside Community Pantry template

A three-page site for a neighbourhood food bank in Leeds. It speaks plainly to people who need food, telling them they can walk in without a referral, and gives donors and volunteers a clear checklist, drop-off points and a short sign-up form.

Northside Community Pantry opens with a big promise in serif type: food for the week, no referral needed. Below a wide kitchen photo, the home page explains the visit in three numbered steps, from walking in to choosing a parcel, then switches to a deep green band with last year's figures: 9,860 parcels, 2,140 households, 62 tonnes of food and 118 volunteers. A quote from Marcia, who came as a visitor and now leads the Thursday kitchen, leads into this week's sessions and a sunflower card pointing to the Give page.

The Get help page starts with Come as you are, four reassurances about who can come, and a green panel showing the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday sessions with what happens at each. It lists what goes into a parcel under store cupboard, fresh and household headings, with chips for halal, vegetarian, vegan and other diets, then covers the warm room, free debt advice and six common questions. The Give page has a ten item most needed checklist, three drop-off points, four volunteer roles beside the Volunteer sign-up form (name, email, phone, role, days and a note), and bank transfer details instead of a card form.

To make it yours, change the hall address, session times and phone number, then rewrite the checklist each week so it matches your actual shelves. Replace the yearly figures, the volunteer quote and the advice partner with your real ones, and keep the plain, respectful tone. The same structure works for community fridges, soup kitchens, baby banks, clothing banks and mutual aid groups that need to explain how to get help and how to give.
