About the Far & Slow template

An airy, magazine-like blog for people who write about their travels. The home page leads with the newest story, the journal groups nine stories by region, and the about page covers the writers, their rules of the road and their packing list.

Far & Slow is a three-page travel blog for Tom and Noor, a couple who cross Europe by train and ferry instead of flying. The home page opens on its newest story, Lisbon to the Algarve on the slow train, with a wide photo, a drop cap and quick facts: three trains, 7 h 40 on board, a 12 minute read. A sea green strip says where the pair are right now and where the next leg goes. Three more stories follow with photos and captions, then a map-like list of thirteen countries reached by land or sea, from Norway down to Greece. Last comes the Slow Post, a newsletter sign-up form asking for first name, email and how often: weekly digest or only new stories.

The journal page holds nine stories from 2026 grouped into Portugal, Italy, Greece and the north, with region chips at the top that jump to each group. A large feature leads, then the rhythm changes from paired cards to staggered ones to a tidy list, so it never feels like rows of identical boxes. A short archive of older favourites closes the page. The about page introduces Tom and Noor, explains why they stopped flying, sets out seven numbered rules of the road, shows the packing list for two small backpacks and ends with a note for tourist boards and small hotels plus a plain email address.

To make it yours, swap the stories, places and dates for your own trips, then update the countries list and the where we are now strip as you move. Rename the newsletter and change its choices if you post on a different rhythm. The same layout suits a walking or cycling blog, a food writer on the road, a photographer keeping a travel diary, a school exchange journal or a small tour company telling stories from its routes.
